Submitted by Water Team on 20 April, 2015 - 11:55
The European Union has recently financed a project called WaterInnEu which aim is to develop a marketplace capable of handling products and knowledge deriving from European projects relating to water and connecting them to users, businesses, and managers who could benefit from their use.

Through WaterInnEU, it is hoped that tools, protocols, and data produced by European research can be standardised, provided via open access, and that they are transferred to actors in the water management sector with decision-making power, or that they penetrate into the market

A high-resolution global-scale groundwater model

Submitted by Celine Dondeynaz on 23 March, 2015 - 09:53

Abstract. Groundwater is the world's largest accessible source of fresh water. It plays a vital role in satisfying basic needs for drinking water, agriculture and industrial activities. During times of drought groundwater sustains baseflow to rivers and wetlands, thereby supporting ecosystems. Most global-scale hydrological models (GHMs) do not include a groundwater flow component, mainly due to lack of geohydrological data at the global scale.
